The No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-06 team will start Sunday’s Chevrolet Grand Prix from second position. Ricky Taylor piloted the blue and black machine around Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) with an impressive lap time of 01:05.734. With Saturday’s qualifying session by Taylor, the starting position marks the fourth front row start for the Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport (WTRAndretti) team at CTMP.
“The No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-06 car has been really fast all weekend,” said Ricky Taylor, co-driver of the No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-06 for WTRAndretti. “The WTRAndretti guys prepared really well for the weekend. I think we had a pole car, but it is a matter of putting the lap together. It’s nice to have an Acura 1-2. Looking to tomorrow, our car seems very consistent over longer runs. Filipe and I both feel very comfortable with the car. It’s going to be a hard race, so starting up front with our sister car I think is going to play into our favor. As long as we can get through the first lap holding our position, I think we got a really good shot at a victory this weekend to start turning our season around. Traffic is going to be really difficult. With how narrow this track is, the closing speed of the cars, how many cars are on track, and the risk taking we’re seeing people take this year – it’s going to be interesting to see how people weigh the risk versus reward this weekend, especially with how fast the track is. I think we will find out in the front race what the tone of the race is going to be like, but at the end of these races, you never know how it’s going to go. There’s going to be some luck involved and how you get in traffic, but also risk taking is going to be the question mark.”
