
A man and a woman are dead after a shooting incident Monday night in Monroe County, according to police.
State police said in a news release that troopers were called about 10:15 p.m. to the 1100 block of Heritage Boulevard, Hamilton Township, after getting a 911 call from a woman who was crying while a man yelled in the background.
While the woman was on the phone with 911, multiple gunshots were heard, the release states. Troopers went to the home and found a woman with gunshot wounds and a man with a gunshot wound. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Monroe County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as Cheryl Okie, 35, and the man as Robert Okie, 36.
Investigators believe the incident was isolated. The manner and cause of death for both are pending autopsies, which are scheduled for Wednesday.
The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office and state police are investigating.
