Le Pacte des Loups plot
"The year is 1766... The hunt for a killer has begun."
In Le Pacte des Loups, the scientist Grégoire de Fronsac is sent by Louis XV to the French region of Gévaudan. It is 1766 and brave hunters have been trying to catch a monster for 2 years without success. The Fronsac is actually sent to the Gévaudan so that he can mount the monster once it is captured, but he also decides to hunt this mysterious beast himself. During his quest, he is assisted by his blood brother Mani and the young aristocrat Thomas D'Apcher. De Fronsac finds out that there is more going on in the Gévaudan than he first suspected.

Beautiful film in which humanity at the time ran away trembling with fear and preferred to leave the defense of "home and hearth" to tough knights. Here it was necessary because the wolf was much, much bigger than usual. This animal also turned out to be bulletproof, ie, a bullet more or less didn't seem to bother him.
No, this was a real mutt that even I had run away from .
Worth this movie! An 8 for this whole.

Thrilling, mysterious, French thriller with dark, dark and shadowy cinematography, historical and dramatic features, beautifully detailed costumes, beautiful dramatic music and lots of gory martial arts. Striking players (knights) with accompanying wild hairstyles and ditto appearance (and behavior). Well, it seems that only 'real men' existed in those days....... Apparently it was an adventurous, but very dangerous time to live in! The film also contains the necessary romance (with some nudity). Furthermore, an important key role for the trained 'monster', the mythological (almost immortal) beast of Gévaudan. Too bad that wolves are portrayed as evil animals again, while in reality wolves are very shy and usually flee before you can encounter one .......
The light end of the film is a worthy conclusion to this rather dark film......

Pretty captivating historical mystery film, I wouldn't call this horror. Very nice setting and decor. Good rendition of the characters.
