The Abominable Dr. Phibes plot
"Love means never having to say you're ugly."
A detective investigates the bizarre murder of several doctors. They were killed by wasps, frogs, locusts and other plagues from the Bible. It turns out that all of these doctors once called a Dr. Versalius assisted in a botched surgery on Dr. phibes. However..Dr. Phibes was killed in a fatal car accident, wasn't he? Who is the mysterious organist orchestrating the murders?

Second Price.
Too bad, but I found this quite disappointing in the end. I actually had reasonable expectations because of Price himself, but the story about the Biblical plagues also appealed to me, but this was not used to the maximum.
The story provides enough fun and funny scenes, which appeals to me anyway. With this you get quite original murders around the film, with which your attention is reasonably focused on the film itself. Unfortunately, it was again a case of waiting for the next one.
As far as I'm concerned, the villains could be stolen from me, Price is actually not very convincing because he simply looks so simple. His voice remains legendary, but his beautiful voice remains quite limited. His accomplice could be completely stolen from me, what did she have on her head, a poodle?
Story is interesting, the detective duo provides some nice scenes here and there. Unfortunately, the film itself is just too simple and sometimes even excels in its sloppiness. The strings can be seen hanging from the bats. Plus points for Price's voice, the story and the powerful ending.

Talk about a video!
The revenge story is intrigued by the creative ideas of the murders that Dr. Phibes applies based on the 10 plagues from the Bible story of Moses. Not every murder is equally well executed, but there are a few very creative finds. Vincent Price I am gradually ( only now ) starting as an actor to recognize and appreciate. I haven't seen much of him yet, but what I've seen of this good man is certainly worth it. An actor who knows how to convince the viewer with facial expressions and voice.
Despite the macabre revenge actions, the story is light-hearted. You notice that especially with the agents, especially Inspector Trout was nice. The opening scene with the orchestra immediately arouses the fascination in which the design and the beautiful colorful decors immediately stand out. Too bad that Vulnavia, the assistant Dr. Phibes gets little interpretation. What a beautiful woman. It will not be really exciting, but you will continue to be fascinated by all those listed positive points that the film does have. The climax seems simple and not really surprising, but it works satisfactorily. The lock is very well chosen. Apparently there is also a sequel to this. Amusing video! 7/10

Revisited because it appears in a list of Horror Cinema slashers published by Taschen. I didn't know anything about it so it came in handy. It is true that a lot of people die in this film, but I do not find the atmosphere of a slasher here. It is mostly über camp. Two big names, Joseph Cotton and Vincent Price in particular, are responsible for the poster. In terms of experience and production, this could just as well have been a print from the 1950s. So it was already dated when it came out. As a campy piece, I had a great time with it. Vincent Price is deadly serious in his role and Joseph Cotton also delivers a good performance. Especially enjoying the decadent 1920s art deco setting at the Price house. And the murders are creatively executed.
