Three families celebrate Christmas at different times in the same house at 7 Cherry Lane. They are all at a turning point in their lives. In 1973, John and Lizzie Hamilton, heavily pregnant with their first child, live in the house. They just want a quiet first Christmas together in their new home, but that is interrupted by Lizzie's family. In 1998, widow Regina Johnston decides to accept the marriage proposal of her new boyfriend, Nelson King, sell the house and move to Florida. Although they like Nelson, Regina's two young adult children, Conrad and Winnie, are not very happy about the news. Especially about the sale of their family home, especially since they have spent Christmas there every year, remembering their real father. And in 2023, gay couple Mike and Zian Harrelson celebrate their first Christmas together in the house by hosting a small Christmas Eve dinner with friends.
