Beautiful psychological drama set against the background of a mystery. Finding a woman who has disappeared without a trace is no more than a frame story, in which the film mainly focuses on the various characters who are (possibly) involved in that disappearance in one way or another. The character drawings emphasize how differently people react in similar situations. A film about suspicion, (lack of) sincerity, repentance and reconciliation. Well acted across the board.

Australian thriller with some drama.

*** 'Trust is as vital to human relationships as breath is to life. And just as illusive.....' ***

The movie comes in creepy. Colorful cinematography for indoor and daytime scenes, blue and dark for outdoor scenes in the evening and night. Ominous and beautiful music, well suited to the scenes. The various actors play their roles realistically and well.

The common thread is psychiatrist Valerie, who talks to various patients about their relationships during counseling. One of the patients is insecure: Patrick is in a relationship with a married man who doesn't want to leave his wife. The psychiatrist suspects her own husband and she suddenly disappears from the face of the earth after a car breakdown. Detective Leon leads the investigation and finds out all the secrets......

Lantana is a sort of combination ensemble film and thriller about unhappy and broken relationships.

The film is about sadness, insecurity, mistrust, damaged trust and its consequences. During 3/4 of the film you wonder which of the married men it actually is.....

Conclusion: I think it's a good movie! Nice exciting atmosphere and nice music......

Best a pleasant movie that has not bored. The whole thing may start a bit slow and has some soap air with all those different men who have hidden relationships. It becomes interesting when different storylines seem to be intertwined. Not very original for a movie, but it's quite nice and airy. It never gets unnecessarily complex here and the plot line is easy to follow. Of course, this is all based on coincidences, but not every subplot is fortunately connected.

The disappearance of the psychologist brings the film in a different atmosphere, which is reeled off relatively quickly. Still, the film is enjoyable. Everything but a high flyer, but the solid acting and the reasonable plot gave a satisfied feeling.

I also liked the ending. Sometimes fate is inevitable. It's a bit strange for the neighbor to throw the shoe away on the other side of his house, but oh well, I'd like to forgive the director.. A film in which mistrust and lack of love are central. Nice!
