La Notte di San Lorenzo plot
August 10 means the 'night of the shooting stars' in the Tuscan area. One can make a wish for each star. A woman asks for words to tell her son what happened that same night in World War II. Italy was occupied by the Nazis and the fascists convinced the inhabitants of her village that they were safe. Many did not believe this and decided to head towards the partisans. There follows an exodus of the villagers, including the woman, then six years old.
