Indeed, more of an experimental snack from Noé than a truly full-fledged feature, but a very pleasant one. It's a shame that the experimental mainly concerns the narrative form, but visually it's just what you can expect from Noé. Not that you'll hear me complaining, I just have such a great soft spot for his style that I was quickly sold on this one too. And as mentioned, the last ten minutes form a wonderful climax that continues to resonate as soon as the credits roll.

Yet I think Noé is a director who comes into his own a little better in longer films, especially because the style then has more time to really take on weight. After the admittedly fantastic climax, I was still a little hungry, compared to other works by Noé.

Not among his absolute best work, but lower than a generous 4* would be criminal.

Annoying short film by Gaspar Noé. Although, short... I've seen three-hour films that seem shorter than the fifty minutes of this messy and, above all, pretentious work. A hysterical Beatrice Dalle runs around screaming like a headless chicken on a film set where something about witches is being filmed. That's about it. Populated by stereotypes and ugly filmed, I unfortunately have to rank this among the worst I have seen from Noé so far. Yes, even the annoying and long-winded Love was better.

No, by far the least I've seen from Noé. It reminded me somewhat of the classic Häxan (Film, 1922). Only I wasn't that fascinated by Dalle's or Gainsbourg's monologues here.

It starts with the witch persecutions and some torture practices, but it quickly descends into an uninteresting whole. Despite the limited playing time, I thought it was quite long. Noé tries to brighten it up a bit with his typical bright color filters, but it didn't help me.

Towards the end there was some momentum again when the women were chained to the pole. Acting is fine.
