In one place this film is associated with the thriller genre, in another drama/mystery; it's just a bit of everything. An ingenious plot that is beautifully filmed. There are some decent surprises here, especially chronologically. The location is perfect. The cast is fine and the events are portrayed realistically. It's a pity that some sets are a bit amateurish, but that's nothing compared to the quality of the rest of the film. Despite the long running time, a very fascinating film up to and including the thunderous conclusion. Recommended!

Also a fan of Paulo who has shown in the past that he knows how to create excellent thrillers with an inimitable, but comprehensible plot. However, I thought this was his least. Certainly not bad, but expectations were very high. A film that somewhat reminded me of Scorsese's Shutter Island (Film, 2010) with DiCaprio.

Great location such a sanatorium as it was more respectfully expressed in the film. We are talking somewhere in the 70s, but also found it rather stereotypical with all those strange creatures. Not everyone who is mentally disturbed looks abnormal on the outside. Apart from that, in terms of setting, it is one-two-three location to create mystery and tension. With Paulo you are also in the right place in terms of cinematography where everything is taken care of down to the last detail.

The story itself doesn't make me crazy. I missed clear motives from each of the culprits, why they clung so stubbornly to their truth. Money can't be the only motivator, at least not for everyone. The film remains shrouded in mystery with some lingering questions, at least for me. Acting decent, but not necessarily masterful. The playing time scared me a bit, but that was not too bad. The pace never really slows down.

Nice scene with Summer Wine by Nancy Sinatra, although I must admit that that is also starting to become very cliché by now. Just a cool track in between and then someone who does an ecstatic dance. Wasn't all this because of Pulp Fiction? There are also films that go all out and throw a complete best of the sixties CD over it, purely for the sake of being hip.

In another film I already wrote that you can go in any direction with psychological disorders (schizophrenia, psychosis, etc.) in a thriller. You can also hide the fact that the plot is actually not that much at all. That may have been the case here, I should actually watch it again, but anyway it resulted in something beautiful.

Truly a beautiful location that huge psychiatric hospital, Hogwarts for the more serious cases, so to speak, I looked up exactly where it is: the interior scenes were shot in an abandoned Mercedes factory in Barcelona, from the outside we see the Tabacalero factory in the city of Tarragona, an old tobacco factory that still had to be digitally restored and moved to another place on top of a mountain. Very nicely done.

The color (mint) green is a commonly used color in films nowadays, but often has no meaning whatsoever. But in this movie it is. The color also fit in films/series such as Ratched and A Cure for Wellness. Oriol Paulo is clearly a lover of rain, love all those rain scenes. And that very last shot of Bárbare Lennie, beautiful.
