Jason Segel is an actor, which I usually like. Also in this Jeff, Who Lives at Home he manages to hold his own quite easily. In any case, the acting can be called quite good, because Ed Helms, as Segel's brother and Susan Sarandon as their mother, also deliver good roles.

I hadn't paid much attention to the genre and thought I was being presented with a pure comedy. This movie certainly isn't. It's a drama with comedic elements, but the combination is mixed pretty well here. Although the finale is a bit too exaggerated, it fits the general tone quite well. It is light-hearted, sometimes collapses a bit, but it also has some very nice scenes. Especially the moment that Segel and Helms try to bug the wife of Helms in a restaurant, is really downright hilarious and clearly the highlight here on the comic level.

Jeff, Who Lives at Home is a fun tragicomedy, in which the actors lift things up with their good roles. It is a pity about the slightly too striking finale and the predictable ending, but that does not detract from the enjoyment of this rather short, but pleasant film.

Still very entertaining on a second look, it's not a special film but it does look very enjoyable.

Segel & Helms complement each other well and come across convincingly as brothers.

I still regret the ending, unfortunately it felt too forced and was quite a safe choice by the director.

3 stars remain 3 stars, the ending could have been better but the rest is still very nice!

template.

The two comedians who do a dramady once in a while, for the past 10 years it has been a must in the oeuvre of every self-respecting comedian. And then you quickly end up with the Duplassjes, who like to make use of such a gentleman in their indie corner.

The result is almost always the same. Not wrong. Bit of a surprise that some comedic actors can also handle a dramatic role, more subtle humor supplemented with light drama and a little bit of genre influence, especially at the end here. Everything through the mangle and you get a movie that won't hurt a fly, but also flutters by quite invisibly.

The only thing I didn't like was the camera. Again and again that nervous shuffling closed with a short, tight hem. Is really used all the time throughout the film, that could have been just a little better.

Certainly not annoying for once, also nice and short, but a film that will not survive a week in my memory.
