The first one was surprisingly very strong.

But this one is a bit disappointing.

Joaquin Phoenix remains a very good actor, for me that is the most positive aspect of this film.

After a very strong first film, you expect a strong sequel... We don't get it.

We knew it would be a bit like a musical, so that was no problem.

But too much is too much & doesn't really fit a character like The Joker.

The story is not that interesting, but the acting performances were fortunately strong.

It is with mixed feelings, curious to see what this will do at the box office.

Highly recommended, no, but give it a try.

Don't expect too much and it might still be a good movie.

But that's difficult, since the previous film was very good.

The movie started off well though, part 1 was fine for me.

But part 2 and especially towards the end, it's just a boring affair...

The fact that there is musical in it is already good for me, no problem.

But the story is not captivating. The previous film I was completely involved in the story.

Joaquin Phoenix & Lady Gaga both act very well, although Lady Gaga can act a bit stronger than this.

More the feeling that they mainly used her singing talent than her acting talent.

Whether this will be as big or a bigger success than the first, I'm not sure.

But it's not disastrous, but it's clear that the first film is much better.

Just fine, that's why half the points.

Musical kinda ruins the character of The Joker...

I laughed more every time they sang than I did with excitement, which is what I expect from a Joker movie.

On every movie site you look at, the comments are mediocre to very bad.

Unfortunately, they are right.

This is definitely not on the level of the previous film.

Two years after the events of Joker, Arthur Fleck [Joaquin Phoenix] has finally been found fit to stand trial for the five murders he committed. His lawyer [Catherine Keener] plans to plead insanity and prove that Arthur and Joker have split personalities and that Arthur's schizophrenia is the result of a traumatic childhood. Shortly before the trial begins, Arthur meets psychiatric patient Lee [Lady Gaga], who dreams with him of a happy, shared future, depicted in a series of musical intermezzos with golden oldies from The American Songbook such as 'That's Life', Judy Garland's 'Get Happy' and 'That's Entertainment'. Is Arthur really schizophrenic? And is Lee really interested in Arthur or in The Joker she knows from television? More importantly: are the answers to these questions even interesting? Phoenix throws herself into this role with abandon again and Lady Gaga gives good counterplay, but the excess of style cannot hide the fact that there is hardly any story and that the screenplay is certainly not watertight. The best moment is Arthur's confrontation with Gary Puddles [Leigh Gill], Arthur's former colleague. Otherwise this is nothing more than a lot of hot air.

Part 1 is a masterpiece for me. Folie a Deux can't even come close to it.

Let it be clear that Phoenix is fantastic again and that Gaga also plays very well. The film also entertains for the entire running time and it is really an easy watch to get through. And that is perhaps where the shoe pinches. It is too easy a watch. The film does not excite much. The film is ultimately anything but a Folie a Deux and very one-dimensional. There are few surprises and you are waiting the entire film for an outburst or something clever that will previously have put you on the wrong track. But none of this. Everything revolves around a fairly dull premise of whether Fleck is sane. This results in a strange court spectacle that is very entertaining, but also goes in a direction that is simply less psychologically interesting. At a certain point the courtroom proceedings are just plain dull.

The musical elements are used as a (joint) fantasy and is a beautiful way to tell the story, but at the same time it is not for me. It also just doesn't work. There is a nagging feeling that much more could have been gotten out of the Joker and Harley dynamic. The film keeps bubbling on the surface, while in Joker the decline of Fleck in combination with his delusions appealed to the imagination much more and you could also discuss it afterwards. I miss this in the sequel. I just want to be served mindfucks in this sequel and I didn't get them.

I am glad Phillips is going for one offs with this Joker version and that it will stay that way. Although I already felt the ending coming that guy was lurking in the background the whole movie so you knew he was going to do something.

It is a nice audiovisual experiment with fantastically played roles. But the story is rickety and less gripping than part 1.

Bad movie, not comparable to the first Joker, Lady Gaga could have stayed out of it for me, added nothing but probably cast for the publicity, promotion of the movie. They are also going to sing in the movie I just think this sequel is bad, I mean the story and the bad acting of Miss Gaga, not of Joaquin Phoenix, who was as always great, for the rest, too bad, for me a flop
