"Time waits for no man, but true love waits forever."
It's 1939, and test pilot Daniel McCormick takes the risk of not proposing to his lover right away. Outside the restaurant where they are sitting, she is hit by a car and the doctors don't think she will ever wake up from her coma. A friend of the test pilot is doing experiments to freeze living things. After succeeding with a chicken, he wants to try it with a human, and because the pilot can't watch his beloved like this, he has himself frozen for a year. But he doesn't wake up until it's already 1992.

Entertaining film, but not more than that, especially the ending I found weak and too long-winded. Nice to see Elijah Wood so young and he is doing very well.

youth sentiment. Back in the day when Lord of the Rings just came out, I fell completely in love with Elijah Wood. In no time I had scoured the entire video library looking for films by him, including this one. Before that I had seen him on television, but then I was very young and I had no idea who Elijah was, or the rest of the cast.
Forever Young is as incredible as it gets, you'd be more likely to see elephants falling from the sky, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a warm, cozy story. Daniel, played by Mel Gibson (who plays a great role) has everything he could wish for when his luck seems to be turning. This is a fact that we have seen many times, but this effect is quite new.
The friendship between him and the little boy (Elijah Wood) is adorable. Jamie Lee Curtis puts on a nice mommy role and it's nice to see how they take the 'lost' man into the family and the bond they develop with each other. Truly a film for romantic souls.

It could easily become melody with such a subject, but the makers come off well with a film that manages to keep a balance between drama and a more adventurous film. The typically Hollywood ending is perhaps the worst here I agree, but as a whole certainly a sympathetic film that also has some humor in store with the two children. Underrated Gibson movie in my opinion.
