I also dared to try this one and it wasn't wrong, but it wasn't very special either. However, the acting was excellent and otherwise he looked fine.

For me it might have been a little shorter, but it never got boring.

Not a bad movie, but not wow either.

“My angel. Flung out of space.”

I liked Carol a lot better in review. It's all very stylish and atmospheric, and especially the score is brilliant. Director Todd Haynes brings the 1950s to life in a fantastic way, with beautiful sets and costumes. And under that stylish exterior is also a beautiful love story hidden, but I continue to struggle to get completely absorbed in the relationship between Carol and Therese.

The first wordless meeting in the department store is an unparalleled scene, but after that it becomes less and less. The second part (the road trip) is long-winded and sometimes just plain boring. Blanchett is good, but she is outdone here by Rooney Mara. She knows how to say so much with just one look... Carol also ends very strong, and the last scene with that look between Carol and Therese (and the score) is pure movie magic.

A beautiful romantic love story, which stands out from the crowd because of the two strong actresses and the wonderful 50's setting. Beautifully made and very attractive. The love between 2 women was previously brought mainly between young women as a coming of age. Or between two women with an age difference. Now it's between two women in an even more conservative era than we live in now and it was just harder for women in general. A gem that will certainly stand the test of time and perhaps get even better with age.
