Coming of age stories is something I always enjoy. Crazy is no exception and to be honest it couldn't go wrong when you incorporate the music of David Bowie and Pink Floyd. To be honest, I didn't think the movie was about Zachary, but about the father. In fact, he is the one who struggles with the situation and especially has a bunch of troublesome sons who have different ideals than him.

Furthermore, a lot of puzzle pieces fell into place when I discovered that this is not a French, but a Canadian film. That explains everything about the houses, locations, American cars and the like. France isn't exactly a hard rock country either. We also saw many nice things, such as how Patsy Cline's LP keeps coming back in the story or Aznavour's singing to the point. Nice family drama this, but the role of dad is the best. He is the only one who really develops.

A fine coming of age film by Zach(ary) whose life we see in the 60s-70s-80s of the last century. It is not obvious, growing up with 4 other brothers, 3 of which are older (and above all very different) from him. He has a kind of love-hate relationship with his father and his father's mood swings are very confusing for him. While not explicit or authoritative, Zach isn't necessarily gay, but any advances or suggestions to it were soon nipped in the bud.

The film is fast paced and has a playful, enthusiastic pace. Honestly reminded me of PTA's Licorice pizza. Nice soundtracks also with Pink Floyd and DAvid Bowie passing in review. Audiovisually also excellent time setting of the 60s and 70s.

CRAZY is a dynamic and smooth film that never bores with various themes that growing teenagers experience around identity and sexual development. Nice to catch up!
