Good film about a relationship between a man and a woman, where the woman ends up in the hospital after a suicide attempt. The first part is a bit long-winded, but once the cracks in the relationship appear, it certainly becomes more interesting. Especially at the beginning, the editing is a bit complicated. Of the cast, Theresa Russell stands out the most.

Great film. Beautifully shot and constructed. One of the exceptions where I really found the jumping in time to be an added value. Strong in content, found the thin line between obsession and love convincing. Anyone who has ever been in a destructive relationship may recognize something of the atmosphere, which is captured very well. This combined with a beautiful and versatile soundtrack, a wonderful Theresa Russell and an exciting (for me ultimately not very surprising) plot make this almost 4.5 stars. The first 5 films by Roeg are of an exceptionally high level.

Still a bit disappointing,
The narrative structure is interesting though. Through flashbacks we learn more and more about the relationship between Alex and Milena. In itself this could work out well, but in the end it felt long-winded to me. The relationship between Alex and Milena with the continuous attraction and rejection often felt like a repetition. The ending could charm me with a good role by Harvey Keitel, who succeeds as an inspector to reconstruct the evening in question.
