Leopold seems to be doing her best to become more killer and distant with the film. It worked very well with Illes Flottantes and Guernsey, Wolfsbergen was already a bit more intense. And in The Brownian Movement Leopold misses the mark quite badly. Too bad.

No, I can't do anything with this. Of those typical art-house films where people are quiet and difficult for the sake of being quiet and difficult. But above all the film fails to tell what it wants to tell, that comes most to the fore in the third part where the film actually goes nowhere, but also because of Bakema who is central but can do nothing more than watch quietly. The film is also too distant and cold to live with, but just that you sometimes sit for ages watching people who are just quiet while there is no reason for it and that for an entire film, that is especially irritating. For a strong Hüller who still manages with that wordless acting and a certain serene tranquility still 1.5*.

The title refers to the property that liquid is never stable due to the constant movement of elementary particles. It will also probably be Leopold's explanation for the fact that Charlotte, a chemist working in Brussels, rents a hotel room where she constantly receives different men to have sex with. If her husband [Dragan Bakema] or her son [Ryan Brodie] would find out... No idea what this is about and it is slow and unbearably pretentious on top of that!
