Anni Felici plot

At the center of the film is Guido, a narcissistic artist who is joined by a number of attractive young women in his studio, arousing jealousy and anger in his devoted wife Serena. With the help of a gallery owner, a beautiful middle-aged woman, Guido lands an important assignment for an art exhibition in Milan. But somehow it goes horribly wrong. Accused by a local art critic for lack of passion, Guido is himself extremely sensitive to criticism of any kind. To make matters worse, he has yet to hear the news that his wife is taking the children to a feminist retreat in France at the invitation of the same gallery owner who advanced his career.

The seventies as I remember them.

The urge for one's own freedom, for one's own development, without regard to the impact that this necessarily has on the environment. And the predictable conflicts that entails. A somewhat confused ideology without realism, without consequences, but with a lot of victims.

Happy years with that. The somewhat wry message becomes clear. But it is certainly not a pleasant film, and not a good one at all - rather a barely appreciated document of a very confused time. Beautifully portrayed and well played, but hardly more than an image of the era that everyone can appreciate.

Beautiful playing by Micaela Rammazzotti. A good movie, but nothing special. It's a pity that the jump into the water returns at the end, because that transition to the car was done so nicely. Furthermore, Anni Felici fits seamlessly into the years of lightness with melancholic undertones that Italian cinema is going through.

A film about a budding artist and his jealous wife who tries to understand both him and his art. But this ultimately comes at the expense of their relationship. And then there is also a nice role for the children. The film also builds up nicely. The acting is excellent and the seventies atmosphere of the film also appeals to me. And yet I get stuck at three stars at the end. And I don't really know why. Maybe because the film doesn't go deep enough or doesn't manage to touch the right emotion that you would expect. That is probably my conclusion now that I am writing this. The film raises higher expectations than it ultimately manages to live up to. Something more should have been taken out of it to make it a real winner. The film certainly had potential.
