Tsukamoto gets better. I liked 'Vital'. Quite a beautiful film, which regularly excels in the audiovisual field. Much is due to the music. Very good score that really draws you into the movie. Certain scenes, such as the rock in the house, the moment Asano looks up at the sky, or the actual ending are very beautiful. In between, the film sometimes drags a bit, Tsukamoto didn't always manage to get me into this rather macabre story, but I'm satisfied.

Original, sometimes quite beautiful, those anatomical lessons and drawings are fascinating to watch, but as a whole this also left me completely cold. In any case, very distant. The scenes between Asano and Tsukamoto, in particular, barely captivated me, no matter how beautiful it looked at times (in that pink glow of a setting sun that sparkles in the hair). 3.0*.

Am I the only one who thought of the Twin Towers when looking at the chimney shots?

Anyway, Vital is not so much an experimental as an experimental film. At times daring in its design, especially the editing and the soundtrack make an impression. Not to call it visually very beautiful, but I also have the impression that my version may not have been of optimal color quality (especially in the indoor scenes it seemed rather dull to me). The good thing is that there is a fairly consistent underlying narrative that keeps the whole thing together. Find the strength of Vital in that combination. Still, both parts make just too little impression for a high score. Keep it at a solid three for now.
