"They drank and they dreamed...tomorrow they would conquer the world...then along came Hickey."
Harry Hope runs "The Last Chance Saloon" in 1912, a bar where only losers and drunks go. Only their memories have remained, imbued with a bitter nostalgia. The only bright spot for these lonely souls is "Hickey", a hardworking salesman who comes by once a year and gives everyone free booze and tells witty tales of his travels. When Hickey arrives this year, however, he has a different message, which is to give up hopeless dreams and face reality.
