I was actually looking forward to Expendables 3 or Guardians of the Galaxy, but hey, it was a week early. Well, there I was, one weekday evening on my vacation between 40 teenage girls and their mothers.

With the high marks in mind, I expected quite a bit from this movie. Unfortunately there are really too many cliché romantic moments in it, which resulted in a whole room of swooning aaaaah's and one disapproving moaning dissonance. Because of this, a film drops in prestige for me so much that I really don't like it. The whole thing didn't respond to my feelings either, it touched me too little. Even Willem Dafoe couldn't save that. The role of Dafoe seems to be in two minds and therefore does not come out well. Unfortunately.

The positive thing for me was the acting, especially from the boy, Ansel Elgort. He has the talent and the looks; we will surely hear about it!

Do you like to swoon, are you a 14 year old girl or her mother then that is probably your thing and definitely worth it. For me this was not it.

2.5*

Excellent drama told in a lighthearted way. In addition, the images of Amsterdam were of course nice. Normally I'm not a fan of sickness and misery movies, but every now and then I pick one up. So I didn't think Alice was wrong at all. Now we were dealing with two cancer patients who knew they would not live long. So she just tried to make the best of it. I especially loved the role of Woodley. He certainly has a bright future ahead. I found the role of Willem Dafoe to be extremely irritating. And sadly, that bird is going to die at Gus's funeral. Too bad and unnecessary Not a word of Dutch is and was not spoken in the Netherlands. But the images are beautiful and I thought the music was fine too. The film never got boring despite that nasty disease that many people suffer and die from. The flaw in our stars. Overall I thought it was a pleasant film to watch despite the heavy theme. And especially to walk with that thing over and over again. Then we may be blessed that we have nothing.
