The Yellow Ticket plot
"Was happiness ever to be hers?"
St. Petersburg, 1913. During the Tsarist rule, the young Jewish-Russian Mary Kalish is forced into prostitution. In this way, however, she can travel within Russia, because prostitutes receive a so-called yellow ticket. In this way she can also visit her dying father in prison. Mary's and British journalist Julian Rolfe's lives are in danger when she provides him with information about the social abuses in her country.
