In this biographical film, Will Rogers Jr. his own father Will Rogers. Born in Oklahoma, he spent his childhood on his father's ranch. He tries to court his childhood sweetheart Betty (Jane Wyman) just before he runs off to build a career as a rodeo rider. Things aren't going well for Will until he starts joking about current affairs. He becomes a popular comedian and eventually settles down as a grown man. He now has a family and during the crisis years he mainly works for poor farmers in his area and beyond. In 1935, Will meets his old friend Wiley Post (Noah Beery Jr.) for a plane trip to Alaska, from which he will never return...
