Play It to the Bone plot
The morning of "The Fight of the Century," Joe Domino and Hank Goody, the organizers of the side event, are at a crossroads: before 6 p.m. they must find two boxers and get them into Las Vegas. Domino eventually ends up in a gym club in LA with older boxers Vince and Cesar. They make a deal: there is $50,000 each and a sporting bonus for the winner, if they get to Las Vegas in time. However, there is one detail that Vince and Cesar keep from Domino: they both have an incredible fear of flying. They enlist the help of Grace, Cesar's girlfriend and Vince's ex, to take them to Las Vegas in her 1972 Oldsmobiel 442 convertible.

Film tends more towards drama than towards comedy because there was really not much to laugh in this film. The slow story is actually not really special and also barely captivates. It's that Antonio Banderas and Woody Harrelson (the boxing fight between the two was intensely sad, by the way) are pretty fun in this film because otherwise it wouldn't have been much anyway. Visually it looked quite nice, at least the environments in and around Las Vegas. Nice to see once, but nothing more. Film could also be half an hour shorter because two hours is way too long for a film like this.

A road trip to Vegas and they are on their way to a boxing match. I think the story consists of about 3 lines, but I found the elaboration very nice and not long-winded.
Almost the entire film consists of recordings of a car journey, during which fragments of images from the past support the narrations of the main characters. The boxers tell their experiences from the past, for example, to their travel companions: the best friend and a lady (lover of both).
It does have something, that limited location and 3 actors in the car. People get to know each other better, talk and argue. Along the way, a 'lady' temporarily joins the couple and that causes some troubles and quarrels.
The ride is followed by the (prolonged) boxing match in Vegas, well filmed and exciting.
This is a movie I wanted to see, worth it. The dialogues are still interesting for next time, I guess.
