"The Sweetest Love Story of the Year!"
While on leave in Paris during the First World War, Pierre Dumont, a fearless soldier, falls in love with Yvonne, the sister of his comrade Paul Gilbert. Forced to return to the lines, Pierre is wracked with longing for his girl, and during a lull in the fighting returns to Paris, where he and Yvonne marry. However, his conscience stricken Pierre returns to his regiment, where he is court-martialed as a deserter and allegedly placed before a firing squad. After the war, her parents force Yvonne into an engagement to a man she doesn't love. But is Pierre really dead?
