On the Beach plot
In the end, the world was able to kill itself, only Australia has been spared for the time being. But a gigantic poison cloud is slowly but surely drifting towards that continent. So it's only a matter of time before the Australians also succumb. Under the authority of Cpt. Towers (Armand Assante), an American submarine enters Australian waters. First the Americans (who were involved in the nuclear conflict) encounter resistance, but then it turns out that Cpt. Tower's other and better intentions...
