The Sound of Belgium plot
"A chronicle of unique popular music, The Sound of Belgium goes in search of the spirit of a nation and the people that danced to it."
At the end of the 1980s, the whole of Belgium was dancing to the New Beat, a surreal electronic music genre that soon conquered neighboring countries. The mega success of this eclectic forerunner of house music seemed to come out of nowhere, but nothing could be further from the truth. Our country has a long and rich musical tradition, from dance halls with Decap organs over Popcorn to up-tempo Belgian techno. Young people from all over Western Europe scoured Belgium's never-closing mega discos for days on end. An alternative chronicle of Belgian music history with a soundtrack full of pumping beats.
