Georgia, 1948. When rich, arrogant John Wallace discovers that his young tenant Wilson Turner is selling illegally distilled whiskey behind his back, he beats him up in anger. After some confrontations and a wild chase, Wallace kills Turner. However, he is now in Coweta County, where the incorruptible Sheriff Lamar Potts holds sway. And Potts has no intention of letting Wallace escape his sentence.
