Jägarna 2 plot

It has been fifteen years since Erik was forced to leave the Norrland Police Department and has been working successfully as an interrogator ever since. His bosses order him to return to his hometown to investigate a brutal murder. Erik has a hard time with it and thinks that bad memories are coming up. The murder, which at first glance doesn't seem that special, turns out to be enormously complicated.

A worthy sequel to the first film from 1996 with a few new faces such as Peter Stornare, known from many films. As for the plot: this is well put together, but Erik has a little too much bad luck and the ending is too predictable.

While the first film goes more in the direction of derailed outlaws, this second film places more emphasis on real detective work. You know who the perpetrator is, but Erik Bäckström's detective work is fun to follow. Although it remains quite hallucinatory how the local police, out of opportunism, are now suddenly using 'evidence here and evidence' there, while otherwise it wouldn't make much sense.

Here too, the necessary dose of corruption and 'turn a blind eye' mentality. The film is similar to the first, but this one is perhaps qualitatively stronger. Peter Stormare is not an unknown actor, certainly not as a character that you have already seen in some Hollywood films. He is doing very well as always.

A classic Scandinavian Krimi I think. Stylish and characterful, a bit raw too. It's all quite exciting and nice to see how the perpetrator tries to erase all traces of him and how he becomes crazy because of the determination of the police inspector from Stockholm. Nice!

a more than excellent follow-up to part 1.

It is a standalone film, but it helps to understand more if you have also seen part 1.

both films are well worth seeing.

part 1 is a bit rawer, part 2, on the other hand, is more investigative and/or police work.

average of both films, one 3.5* the second 4*

is still a big 7.5.

If you want to see this, I recommend that you watch part 1 first
