What a top movie. For a moment I thought it was going to be nothing, the film suddenly became slow and long-winded. But that was more of a calm before the storm, suddenly the film picked up speed and it remained very fascinating the whole time.

The common thread of El secreto de sus Ojos ("The secret in her eyes") is the investigation of a difficult case, a murder of a young woman in which the perpetrator disappeared without a trace. A researcher writes a book about it, and through flashbacks we see how that research went.

Great script, great acting and also beautifully filmed so you can feel the atmosphere well. The film pays a lot of attention to the details (to give just one example: the Olivetti who misses the A and cannot write Te Amo (I love you) which makes Temo (I have fear))[ /spoiler] and a rare depth: the passion that never disappears (in the perpetrator, in the victim's husband, in the investigator) and the punishment of "nothing". I also found the profound friendship between the criminal investigator and his assistant exceptionally beautifully conveyed.

Recommended, just sit out that slow bit and keep watching because it's definitely worth it. Movies like this are really rare.

But once set up because it appeared in some lists, including the IMDB top 250. In retrospect, I can't really explain that high rating. It's basically a well-made film, but it doesn't do anything special. It also took a while before it all got to me a bit. I didn't find the characters very interesting and the story was built up quite cliché, with a train-mooring scene as the low point.
The scene in the stadium was actually impressive although I don't understand why it Gomez seemed like a good idea to run onto the field

We will not forget this film for the time being, it has conquered a place in our memory, both in the short and long term!

Gradually, but above all very carefully, Juan José Campanella builds up his story. Frequent flashbacks explain not only the successive events, but also the mixed feelings with which Esposito (Ricardo Darín) thinks about this murder case. Blurred images make transitions over time acceptable. Campanella's experience directing popular TV series such as "House" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" makes itself felt. His perfect sense of timing and focus ensures that the viewer's attention is mercilessly held.

As the title implies, the eyes are "mirrors of the soul". The way in which the characters look and how Campanella portrays this form an essential part of the story. Incidentally, the chemistry between Ricardo Darin and Soledad Villamil (Irene Menéndez Hastings) is tacitly revealed in an equally majestic way. Their eye contact betrays a great attraction that Esposito tries to resist because of social conventions. Ricardo Darin's portrayal contributes greatly to the impact of this film, though he finds a worthy co-star in Soledad Villamil, who masterfully portrays both the tender woman and the high-born career fighter.

From the first minutes, this film takes you into a loaded drama and that hold you end up in, only loosens up a bit more than 2 hours later. The high-quality direction and the far-reaching interpretations of the actors result in a magnificent film with a superior screenplay and magnificent acting.

A great movie!

A 9!
