Revised on Blu-ray. After Duel, made for television, in fact Spielberg's first full-fledged feature film, and immediately a direct hit. This is of a high standard, especially in terms of design, camera work and editing. The story and characters aren't much, but it's all just entertaining and entertaining enough. Visually, however, the film is a feast for the eyes and when viewing the polished Blu-ray version, it really becomes apparent how well Spielberg had already managed his business at the time.

I don't really have much to add to the previous comment by james_cameron.

The film is given the genre designation “crime” on MM. I've seen very little of that. It is rather a comic road movie with lots of witty humor and a little drama now and then.

Anyway, I once again thoroughly enjoyed myself with this Spielberg film, thanks mainly to the frivolous Goldie Hawn, who only does things that under the data conditions really can't be done. A wonderful movie.

An early Spielberg and the first Spielberg in which the music was provided by composer John Williams. The Sugarland Express is a hectic action comedy with a restless and loud sound design. The score of Wiliams is somewhat perished in the noise of the film. Car roar and squeaky brakes penetrate the auricle. Police sirens scream. The characters use a pretty high volume in the conversation. And then there's Goldie Hawn, who is present at full volume, screaming everything and everyone. She gets on the nerves.

Not my favorite actress. Again, in this film, it's a lot of work with an anything but sympathetic appearance. Sometimes so unnervingly present that the fun in the film (which is otherwise nice to look away) even fell away. Nice movie further. A great action film with a comedic twist. Wild car chases. Chaotic shooting incidents. Bizarre interactions. Banging and hectic entertainment. spectacle.

And suddenly a little serious. The film also seems to want to give a satirical commentary on the ease with which the masses create its heroes and then glorify them as gods. It happens to nobody-Hawn and her nobody-husband who, on the run from the police, manage to gain the sympathy of the general public. Sympathy that culminates in mass hysteria and is actually based on nothing more essential than sensation. A curious form of admiration that always amazes.

Ah. It really doesn't matter anymore. The Sugarland Express is simply an action-packed and noisy spectacle with excellent stunts and camera work and is quite manageable even with a very present Goldie Hawn.
