Meet the Spartans plot

"The bigger the hit, the harder they fall."

Parody of the movie 300 in which the Spartan warriors have to fight a war with the great Persian army. This film shows the other side of the story, namely that the Spartans were not as disciplined and warlike a people as is commonly believed.

Often too bland and too cheap, but I did have to laugh regularly so that's why just 2 *.

The film also only lasts 60 minutes, so it's nice to have in between. I fell asleep in the scenes that followed.

I had forgotten how bad this movie actually is. Those fake celebrities are cringe-inducing and jokes like the American Idol jury, the gayness of the Spartans and the use of the blue screens are getting a bit too much for me. widely used. So much so that it's usually not funny anymore. Furthermore, the fights are of course (express?) very bad. For example, we regularly see that the swords or spears are clamped under the arm instead of an actual piercing. Furthermore, some humor, such as the jokes with the Oracle is very adolescent, so it doesn't come across as funny to people my age (or older). Also the put scene gets very stretched, taking away its effectiveness.
A very bad parody film that I think even had a theatrical release at the time. Incomprehensible when you see the film again now.

Well.

They remain rather typical films that can really only come from this duo who apparently know few boundaries in the field of parody films. And whenever they throw too much into a heap, it just won't work. Quieter parody films such as Superfast! work better with this duo.

Just like Disaster Movie and Epic Movie wants Meet the Spartans get as much inspiration from other films as possible and incorporate them into this. But often forget to be funny. It's mostly very random, which sometimes still works, but in general it's too lazy and too random to be really fun.

Visually rather grandiose, but hey, that comes out easily with this kind of film. Also necessary, because these kinds of films rarely work on a small scale. It's just a shame that the makers focus too literally on making the busiest parody film possible instead of blurting out a more normal parody film.

Jokes don't hit the mark that often either. Especially since the timing is usually not too good and some jokes really go on for way too long. Many forms of parody also fail, something like throwing superhero movies through this, for example, quickly asks for failure.

A funny moment here and there, but otherwise rather over-the-top childish and basically how a parody film shouldn't be. The fun part is when you occasionally drop a reference to another movie, but not with every joke. And therein lie the weaknesses of this film.
