Not looking forward to a life as a single mother right away, Alison decides to get to know Ben better. Who knows, there might even be a real relationship for them. Ben, in turn, is completely shaken by the news that he will become a father. Will he run away quickly, or will he stay around to help raise the child?

Much better than expected.

Don't expect too much in advance, anyway with Rogen there it is of course only stoner humor and gross humor. But here it was actually not that bad, and that was a complete surprise because almost the entire Rogen group of friends participates but none of them go overboard so it wasn't annoying.

Rogen is above his level by the way. If he puts his irritating pelvis, stoner humor and crude dialogue aside a bit, it will surprise you, but then he is a really good actor who blends in with his role and can come across much better.

Heigl was also a lot of fun, and was completely absorbed in her role. She was able to show emotion and was often able to put her humor down sharply. Not that I was flat, but I did have a good laugh a few times. Mann was natural, I didn't see real movement in her face many times, but in terms of acting it was good.

Rudd was also fine, but with him it's always a good idea not to go over-the-top in his role, otherwise it will quickly go wrong. For example, the Vegas scene tapped into that. But luckily this is not only lame, but also really nice humor here and there.

But the real human traits and reality sometimes take the comedy to a higher level. With that, the final phase was surprisingly exciting because of that, where you can actually look further with a smile and relieved. And because of this, this is slightly better than the average American comedy.

So much better than I expected actually. I thought it was a nice seat, where the playing time, which was a bit on the long side, didn't bother me at all.

In a conversation between Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd, the latter describes his marriage as an episode of the sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond" but without the humor. “Everybody Loves Raymond” was a weak TV series that turned a family's everyday troubles into comic situations. Comic in this case means recognizable. The series is based on a lot of artificially generated feel good and the humor is hard to find. Rudd's comparison can also be applied well to this film in my opinion.

The so-called humor in Knockes Up is often stupid, simple and crude. Barring a few jokes, the film is fairly humorless. With a running time of a ridiculous 130 minutes, the lack of humor is mercilessly exposed. There are plenty of attempts to induce feel good, but that happens so predictably that the tear-inducing effect is minimal.

Rogen plays his usual character. A foul-mouthed, maladjusted and lazy user of mind-altering drugs, who deep down turns out to be an enormous good guy. With his rude presence, he is prominently in the foreground in every scene. Once Rogen comes into view, the other characters immediately disappear into a minor role. Katherine Heigl's character has no chance of manifesting as an equal individual. Rudd is having a hard time but manages to hold his own. The rest doesn't matter at all.

Knocked Up is a mediocre 'comedy' that manages to extract sadly little humor from a theme that offers excellent comic possibilities.
