Saw it in the cinema tonight and I certainly didn't disappoint. Movies starring Amy Schumer are great entertainment if you can appreciate her style and nature of comedy. If this is not the case, then it is better not to start this film.

I am a fan of her personality and spicy statements and find it particularly refreshing not to see a Jennifer Lopez or an Anne Hathaway in a romantic comedy. In addition, this film seems very recognizable to many women. Constantly being judged on your appearance and the many insecurities that come with it seem very difficult to me. After watching this movie I realized that I am very happy to be a man.

I also thought Michelle Williams' supporting role was striking. Her last six roles were so heavy on my stomach that I almost turned them all off and I was happy to see a role of hers with the necessary self-mockery and overacting.

In addition, I think that Rory Scovel's role as Schumer's male counterpart should not go unmentioned. I hadn't seen the man in anything yet, but I thought he was able to deliver a strong role and had a lot of chemistry with Schumer. A quick look at IMDB showed me that he was also on the show Inside Amy Schummer.

All in all, I had a great time with this movie.

Above average.

Nice.

The fuss surrounding this film has more to do with writers who like to put themselves in the spotlight than some deep-rooted problem with which this film struggles. Admittedly, the moral is very thick, but "self-confidence is the key" is already a lot better than "beauty is within" that we used to be bombarded with.

Schumer is really perfectly cast for this film. On the one hand to give the message some extra shine, on the other hand to brighten up the humorous side. Williams is also very nice, in a role where you would not immediately expect her. I only knew Scovel from his stand up material, but as a woolly hipster friend he also does a pretty good job.

110 minutes is quite long and towards the end the film collapses a little too often. There is also a bit too much time in the whole concept (which writes itself, but where the film should have shown every logical step), a target of 90 minutes would have been better, I suspect.

But quite fun for once. There are a few funny moments, especially Schumer's looks are sometimes worth their weight in gold. Furthermore, ignore what else is written about this film, just gain a little more self-confidence.

2.5*

Catchy video. Not high-minded humor, but not vulgar either. Just lighthearted. But what I really like is the theme that appearance is not important, but that you are as beautiful as you feel. And when you are convinced of yourself, you also radiate this to those around you, who will then see you that way. There's a lot of truth in it. The fact that this is also presented by Amy Shumer makes it complete. Sufficient self-reflection, for which I have a lot of respect. Makes Amy a beautiful lady for me... No one is perfect and while you might think that someone will have everything fall into their lap due to their apparently perfect appearance, this film shows the opposite. By the way, what is the ideal image? Will be different for everyone. Good thing, too.

Successful film.
