In terms of story, I thought it was funny, but actually it doesn't amount to much and it also looks very cheap. The film is described as a comedy, but there is actually nothing to laugh about. The story revolves around four people, but you never get a real bond with them because they are depicted very superficially. The story is regularly boring and nothing interesting or exciting happens. For me, Greta Gerwig and Elise Muller were the most interesting in this film. The highlight of this film for me was the scene where Greta Gerwig showed her breasts to Baghead

First Duplass.

Baghead is part of the mumblecore genre, a genre I've seen very little of. These types of films don't seem to get out very often, so I have to watch them if I happen to come across them one day. That was also the case with Baghead, although I knew about his existence four years ago.

This film feels very realistic at times and thanks to the cheap and raw filming style, the film has no trouble keeping you interested. However, the problem I often experience with these films is that it is difficult for me to see talent in them. The Duplass brothers simply went into the woods with a small budget and a camera and filmed this film there.

It produces a result that attempts to be oppressive, but isn't always so. Yet it has its atmospheric images. Filming the so-called 'Baghead' from a distance looks quite menacing. The final confrontations are disappointing and quite silly, but the situation where people are in a hut that is suddenly attacked by this apparition for no apparent reason sometimes manages to shine through quite a bit.

Camera work also records everything well. I can't really praise it, but nothing is left out of the picture. It's a pity that there is no real focus on horror, which ultimately makes this film a dramedy. There are some nice twists in the plot, but unfortunately they don't help the story very much. This movie just doesn't have it in it.

Despite some exciting moments and effective atmospheric settings, Baghead was a very useless film in my opinion. I just don't see any advantage in this, because it often seems like I could make it myself, just not with these actors. Not a bad film, but not a film that I simply see the point in, unfortunately.

Ha, a surprising Greta Gerwig in the cast. A pleasant windfall. Not that the cast is fantastic, I even found it sad at times, but it probably fits in with the low budget mumblecore film that this is. I also found the camera work jumping up and down annoying at times. It was not very stable at all.

Apart from that, I saw the 4 characters having fun and just doing their thing. The film is also labeled horror on IMDB. Well, it could have gone in that direction and for many horror films it is a similar plot. It doesn't get that far, or at least not enough. This one never gets scary.

But I was in the film and that's something. Not great, but fun entertainment of about 85 minutes. Not bad, but it could use a bit more to give a higher score.
