Nice but also a bit unbalanced.

The strange thing about this concept is when the four main characters succeed in their mission too well, so you're watching a cozy, dull family comedy of the caliber National Lampoon's/Chevy Chase.

However, the jokes that have to pierce through that veneer (because the four are in fact so intrinsically anti-bourgeois) are often not sharp enough. The scene where Kenny learns to kiss illustrates that perfectly: nice idea, but not pushed to the limit. Same with the weedbaby. Or the scene in the tent.

Yet it is all quite sympathetic, it is mainly the small jokes that do it and there is quite good chemistry in the group. Sudeikis has the best timing but also gets the most attention; outside of him, both the focus and the output gradually diminish, even to some weak supporting roles (Brad ?).

The story isn't the most important here, of course, but it doesn't guarantee the sharpest humor either and has a dangerous overlap with the bland variety within the genre. The sweetness remains limited, but had nothing to do here at all. In the end I was able to chuckle well but there was no laughter, unfortunately. 2.5*

A dysfunctional 'family' that starts smuggling weed into the US from Mexico. We're The Millers have a hilarious road trip ahead of them on paper, but this comedy doesn't get any further than a few chuckles. The highlight are the bloopers in the end credits, so you immediately know what kind of meat you have in the tub. (NB somehow I just can't watch Will Pourter's tronie without annoyance.)

Kind of nonsensical, but nice at times, like Aniston's prayer on the plane. But at other times the film misses the mark. The scene where "son" kisses "sister" and "mother" naturally ends with his big love just walking in as this happens. The joke with the swollen ball after a spider bite is of course already well chewed. Coincidentally saw There's Something About Mary a few days earlier in which someone zips his balls. So not very original (nor does the latter film, because it also happens in Turkish Fruit) and I can't really laugh about it either. Aniston's striptease also had little added value, because it gets really sexy never. It feels like a lame excuse to get more naked in the film. The scenes with the couple in the other camper are also very uncomfortable and not very hilarious. Only the "You know what I'm saying" guy was funny if only because I can irritate my girlfriend with his catch phrase.
It's also not really a punishment to watch, so I end up at 1.5 *.
