Richard Sherman stays alone in New York while his wife and son spend the summer at the seaside. He enjoys his temporary single life, but he is determined not to take advantage of it. However, when a beautiful blond woman comes to live above him, his fantasy takes over.

A really nice feel good movie! Tom Ewell is truly phenomenal in his role as a neurotic self-talking family man who is ready for an adventure after 7 years of marriage, but struggles with his bourgeois conscience. His fantasies and reflections are just hilarious! And Marilyn Monroe is the perfect model for the voluptuous, seductive woman but at the same time innocent and goodness itself. It's hard to say which Billy Wilder movie is my favorite, he has made some near-perfect movies including The Fortune Cookie (1966) with a great Walter Matthau (a bit of a shame it was filmed in black and white) and Some Like It Hot (1959). But for me, The Seven Year Itch is the best movie to watch and rewatch.

To see this film on the big screen. Remains a delightful comedy with both Billy Wilder and Marilyn Monroe clearly in shape. And the iconic scene with the billowing white dress, of course. Although the film is much more than that. With strong dialogues and spicy humor. Great theatrical humor enhanced with Tom Ewell in the lead making his mind run aloud. It is somewhat reminiscent of the old Goofy animation short films. Ewell received a Tony Award and a Golden Globe for the original Broadway performance for this film version. The combination of nice dialogues and physical humor is certainly good here. Had to laugh regularly and it wasn't the first time I saw the film. Still a great comedy.

Very nice comedy. Watched as part of a Monroe box set and I was pleasantly surprised when playing to see Billy Wilder appear in the credits. That usually can't go wrong. Here too, a great atmosphere is created with the actors involved and the über witty screenplay. The story moves between reality and imagination. It remains fascinating despite the fact that it is almost a kammerspiel. The icing on the cake is the iconic Monroe dress scene. And so I end up with a full score.
