From the moment that Max Verstappen was involved in F1, my nationalistic feeling came to the surface again. Since then I regularly follow a competition, and I saw that a film had also been made about 2 legends: Lauda and Hunt. Heard a lot about them from my father. The struggle, passion and tension that came with it was horrific. Both could drink each other's blood, but at the same time they respected each other because of their enormous drive and perseverance to beat the other and take the win.

The film paints a very realistic picture of this battle. Led by 2 great actors, Rush sometimes makes you gasp from the tension. The differences between them are immediately apparent, leaving a pleasant division in my braincase. Because well, having fun is just as important as winning. But, in the end you are competing to win. I was very pleased with both men, and I was eagerly looking forward to the final. This one was formidable, and the ending also made a deep impression, with the official images.

Characters wonderfully realistically deepened, fascinating peripheral matters, excellent acting, tight exciting story, and a grand finale. Thick 4.5*.

I'm not into Formula 1. Maybe that's also the reason I never made this film, despite the high scores here. I couldn't be further wrong...

Rush will go into my memory as a film with near-perfect pacing and an excellent main cast. The playing time of two hours flies by, partly because I fully sympathized with both Hemsworth and Brühl. And that almost surprised me, because you will not soon encounter two greater opposites. The macho, the womanizer and the bon vivant who finds himself confronted with a thoughtful pusher, who almost seems anti-social, but can therefore harbor grandiose ambitions. Hemsworth's character fits in seamlessly with the image that he also has as an actor, which means that he is able to play a role like this like no other. Brühl surprised with his intense, powerful acting. This is the first time I've actually seen him excel.

Furthermore, Ron Howard was very surprised. The man had a bit of a dull image in my perception, especially after I saw Inferno and a mediocre Beatles documentary of him last year. Here, however, I consider him primarily responsible for the wonderful pacing. On a technical level, Rush lacks for nothing. The camera work is strong, with beautiful shots during the races themselves, and the cinematography rests somewhat on a documentary style, which comes into its own here. Hans Zimmer's music is alternately epic and atmospheric, slumbering and all-encompassing. Finally, the editing is spot-on, and also contributes to the pleasant pacing.

A compelling movie. Catchy when it comes to the acting and script, but also in the representation of motorsport. Rush is more confident than ever in conveying the dangers associated with Formula 1. As a layman in that world, I suspect I will always look with different eyes.

4.5*

In the 1970s, as a driver in Formula I, your life was uncertain. Niki Lauda [Daniel Brühl] manages to get enough sponsors to buy his place in Formula I without the financial support of his wealthy family and he soon becomes known as a cool driver with unparalleled technical acumen. James Hunt [Chris Hemsworth] is a loose cannon who, with the help of the immensely wealthy Alexander Lord Hesketh [Christian McKay], slowly works his way up, only to end up on the F1 circuit by a twist of fate and become Lauda's main rival. The rivalry between Lauda and Hunt takes center stage in this quintessential Ron Howard film that is solidly made and never boring, but which you will soon forget.
