Seventy years have passed since the last alien invasion, which resulted in an immense battle between humans and an alien race called 'the Formics'. Young Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a highly developed child, is sent to a military school located in space. Here, along with other talented peers, he is trained and educated to be prepared for future invasions.

I wasn't really expecting much from this movie, but I really liked it. I was immediately drawn into the story and found it very engaging. The film flew by.
The cast certainly didn't do bad, although it was mainly the main character who stood out the most.
Other than that, the movie looked very good.
I thought this was definitely worth a look and it's one I'd like to revisit. Pleasantly surprised.

I've wanted to see this movie much earlier, but not because of the mediocre reviews. I recently watched it because I like these kind of (loser-winner) storylines. I have not read the book, but I especially liked the human aspect (dealing with success, loss, arguing, making choices) well portrayed in this film. That in combination with the "Think Different" approach results in a fascinating film. Finally, an exciting finale in every way! You can argue for a long time about how this film ends. I understand the choice made. And maybe good for a sequel...
