Part 2 of the Pirates series, and although entertaining a bit less.

The style and atmosphere is there again, as is the well-known soundtrack by Hans Zimmer, in addition, a nice and imaginative story is created again, mainly around Davy Jones and The Flying Dutchman, which are very beautifully designed.

I also think the film is on the lesser side because there is much more work with action that all tends a bit over the top like that with that big wheel or all the situations in the beginning with the cannibals. Nice....but less. In addition, I think the film is at least half an hour too long and the open ending, which of course immediately contains a set-up for part 3, does not appeal to me. You've spent two and a half hours watching something that doesn't settle.

Well weighed up all the pros and cons, it all looks nice again and, despite the fact that the new one is finished, this one is also entertaining and humorous in itself.

Lord Cutler Beckett [Tom Hollander] arrives to tidy up and arrest Will Turner [Orlando Bloom] for his part in freeing Jack Sparrow [Johnny Depp] at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Black Pearl[/ i]. Beckett is willing to let Turner go if he helps to trap Jack Sparrow, now captain of 'The Black Pearl'. Plus, it turns out Davy Jones [Bill Nighy] is on his way to deal with Jack Sparrow. The ship with the living dead is visually impressive, but also makes it a bit too scary for the younger viewers. Also striking are the racist stereotypes in a film that focuses too much on slapstick and too little on a decent story. Depp may be the actual star, but he can't wear this alone. Geoffrey Rush is especially missed, but luckily he returned for the sequel [i]Pirates of the Caribbean – At World's End.

After the brilliant first part a big disappointment, because this part actually has very little to offer. Well, Depp's 'snip-snip' was a bit of a stretch, and the addition of Nighy is of course genius. Especially since he manages to get his usual mime right through a silicone squid, although that may only come out really well in the next part.

In comparison, I found the rest of the roles to be a bit dull. Too much story, too little character, is perhaps the summary. With so many roles and such a star line-up, that is perhaps not surprising, but it is something the director should have done something with.
