fun movie to watch. The acting was generally okay, and the story also kept me interested until the end (even if you somehow know how it will end).

But of course the film deserves no more praise than it needs to be. It's full of clichés and some scenes are a bit unrealistic.

Hence 3*. Nice, but not a must see...

I'm not averse to a well-made children's film every now and then. The problem with Nim's Island, however, is that the perspective shifts too much to Jodie Foster's character and too little to Nim himself. What you want to see (exciting adventures on a desert island) is overshadowed by a somewhat half-baked adventure story about a writer who is taken outside her comfort zone by a fictional character.

A nice family film with a bit of exaggerated humor at times. That Jodie Foster can also handle comedic roles, she proves in this record and how! Abigail Breslin shows here that she is very talented, cut out for these kind of feel good movies. The surroundings were beautiful: an island with a sandy beach, infinite blue sea and a volcano. I recommend it if you're in the mood for something light.
