A deadly bullet for James Bond. Secret Agent 007 has to grapple with a twofold problem this time. First and foremost, he has to face the arch villain Scaramanga (Christopher Lee). It has secured an essential part of a revolutionary discovery codenamed Solex. Led by Scaramanga, the international underworld has sent the world's most dangerous professional killer on Bond.

I think this is one of Roger Moore's better Bond films. Roger Moore is in my opinion a lesser Bond than Craig and Connery. Although I do think that the movies with Moore are a bit underestimated. They're not that bad anymore. I love Christopher Lee as Scaramanga and generally a great actor. Nick Nack was nice but didn't really contribute.

Pretty mediocre Bond in my eyes with a plot that was not very interesting. The screenplay was very weak and despite the fact that it was interesting, it muddied a bit. Bit patchy and easy transition from one location to another. A little too easy sometimes, although you have that more with the Bond films.
The subtle humor was missing here. The numerous dry one-liners were there, but that fat American could be stolen from me, for such a long screen time. As indicated here before, also a separate opening in which not Bond is central. Nothing wrong with that in itself, but it was surprising.
The film goes off the rails a number of times and found the character Bond too little really come into play. Certainly one of the lesser Bonds.

Pretty okay. Roger Moore is even more than average fun as Bond here; he plays a little less of the joker, and is a bit more no nonsense in his behavior. Christopher Lee is always a plus (even if he has to play a boring bad guy), and the Bond girls, especially Maud Adams, are pleasant too. Important elements for a Bond film, and that is largely the case here. It's just a shame that the story itself is a bit uninspired, and there are few really memorable or entertaining sequences that will stay with me for a long time. And jesus, what was that JW Pepper doing here again? Most annoying Bond character ever, and for some reason he gets another 15-minute role. Was really completely unnecessary.
Bond at an average level; not an outlier in the positive or negative sense. 3*.
