The Last Stand plot
"Not in his town. Not on his watch."
Former LAPD operative Owens (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has surrendered to the simple life in the small village of Sommerton Junction after a failed surgery that left his partner handicapped. Owens passes his time there by dealing with minor offenses as the designated sheriff. He is taken out of his daily routine when a spectacular breakout takes place nearby, in which a drug lord escapes in an armored car with his gang members and a number of hostages. The drug lord decides to travel to Mexico to escape the American authorities. The only thing standing in his way of reaching the border is the village of Sommertown Junction, guarded by Sheriff Owens.

Initially I feared the combination Schwarzenegger/Knoxville. But that turned out to be wrong because I think they are a great duo. Schwarzenegger is still the funny, tough asshole and Knoxville completes the picture. Strangely enough, Forest Whitaker's performance was a bit less, but he is one of the best American actors in my eyes. Nevertheless, a movie that you must see!

"Who are you?" "I am the Sheriff"
Very entertaining film where good old Schwarzy goes over the top again! With his comrades he makes the film that is rather mediocre outside. I think the whole FBI thing is unnecessary ballast.
