Seen it a few times in the past. Was also known to me as one of the best/better JCVD's. Not that it's all that fantastic or has a great plot, but there's more balance between the action and the drama part.

The plot is like an old-fashioned Steven Seagal, pitted against a rogue and megalomaniac entrepreneur. Technically quite an OK film were it not for the fact that you have to add those typical nineties slomo's. I was more impressed by that chase then.

Towards the end some more action and the clichés wander further, but all in all quite manageable. It's nice to see it again, but the appreciation has declined somewhat over the years.

This piece of sentiment has been on Netflix since December 1, and of course I couldn't pass this up to review it. I grew up with JCVD movies and I used to play this movie gray in the VCR. Now, with an adult eye, there is not much left of the film itself. It's a little less spectacular in terms of fighting than you're usually used to at JCVD and it seems to want to tell a more serious story.

The plot is only paper thin and you can't say much good or good about the cast. What keeps the film alive is the nice, sunny and dreamy setting on the ranch somewhere in Hilbillietown, Texas. The much too sharp and horny dialogues about cocks and tits are also quite rude, but it somehow shows the amusement of this pulp. And sometimes that doesn't rhyme.

As serious attempt by JCVD failed miserably. If you do not expect too much from this film and if you do like a nineties action hero, then you are just fine with Nowhere to Run.

2.5*
