Bill Marks (Liam Neeson) is a worn out veteran of the Air Marshals service. He sees his job not as a life-saving task, but as an office job in the sky. Today's flight, however, will not prove to be a routine. Shortly after taking off on a transatlantic flight from New York to London, he receives a series of mysterious text messages ordering him to have the government transfer the $150 million amount to a secret bank account. If not, a passenger will die every twenty minutes.

Tiresome adrenaline rush in the plane. Is it just me or did the director heavily influence the viewer by making Julianne Moore heavily suspicious? So I thought after 10min or so that the viewer gets to know who the perpetrator is and that the film is about prejudice and blindness for the woman sitting next to you. In any case, it was very surprising to me and a setback when she was suddenly innocent. Apart from that, Moore played a highly irritating character, always walking in that hallway and interfering with everything... The ending was indeed disappointing.

Years ago I apparently thought this was a pretty cool thriller, but this review didn't make much of it. The story is actually not very closely related, and especially the motivation of the bad guy is lousy and doesn't make sense. The focus is also too often too obvious on some characters, so it's easy to know that they are already not the culprit. But bon, for an evening of entertainment this was not so bad. In itself, the tension is sufficient with moments, and it is a nice choice that the film is not packed with action, but takes time for construction. The biggest plus is Liam Neeson. He's always played the same kind of role for the last decade, and he doesn't really deviate from that either, but he always manages to carry a film and even pull it up.

Yeah, typical role for Liam Neeson. Not very innovative for both him and the film itself. Film had some potential at the start, but the focus and tension ebbed away as the film approached its climax. Also a lot of cliche characters. The Muslim for example could never have done it in 2014, a big difference with films from 20-30 years ago. So we attribute something else to him (which is perfectly possible of course), but then it's too thick.
Julianne Moore also has such a vague character and there are a few more. The plot was just so-and-so. Pretty strange demand from the terrorists too and even weirder that this was even addressed, not to mention the short time that this was realized.
But both always entertaining and good to watch once in a while. Doesn't mean too much, but great for an evening of mindless entertainment.
