George and Harold are two troublemakers known to all their teachers for being disruptive and rude. They love to play pranks on the helpless students and teachers at school. In addition, they also make comics under the name "The Adventures of Captain Underpants". They have many enemies, but the one who hates them the most is the headmaster, Mr. Krupp. When they're in trouble again, George decides to use his 3D Hypno ring to help Mr. Krupp into their own superhero, Captain Underpants.

Watched this with the kids and they liked it. A colorful film with a nice story. The animations were nice, more cartoony instead of realistic.
The film is aimed more at a younger audience, but we enjoyed it with the whole family.

I have never read the book on which the film is based, but I think it follows quite well the trend of children's books that only consist of pictures and nonsense to appeal to today's poor concentration. The film also gives that impression, because it is certainly quite crazy.
The problem is that it doesn't really appeal to me at this age, and I probably would have reconsidered it if I knew what I was getting into with this movie. Because this was from Netflix and it still seemed entertaining to me, but I have to say that I was not prepared for the large dose of childish toilet jokes that appear. Suitable for a specific audience, but not for me.
Yet the film has some successful moments, mainly caused by the energetic animation and constant attempts to make this a bit more ADHD. There is a lot going on within this film and the pace is fast paced. It's impossible for you to get bored during this movie, because if you do, it's really up to you.
Captain Underpants harps on jokes that aren't that funny for a very long time and then repeats them again 30 minutes later. Feels very pushy and forced, as if the film is on its knees before you and then begs you to laugh. Soren tries very hard to squeeze a laugh out of the viewer, but all those fairly stupid attempts started to irritate me after a while.
If you like humor where a central character is named "Dr. Poopypants" then Captain Underpants is for you. The energetic animation is guaranteed to keep you glued to the TV because there is something constantly happening, but it is very clear that this is aimed at youth and speaks little to adults. Despite the clear signals in advance, I did not know this, so it naturally disappointed me.
