The four penguins, Skipper, Rico, Kowalski and Private, join forces with the chic spy agency "North Wind" led by Agent Classified. Together they must face the evil Dr. Octavius Brine who wants to conquer the world.

Animation movies today are so hyperactive, especially the work of Dreamworks and its Madagascar series. Way too busy and over the top. Not very subtle, and I find that very strong in, for example, the work of Pixar. The film certainly had its moments. The penguins are pretty funny characters in themselves, but they are secondary characters for a reason. They cannot carry their own film.

The penguins from the previous 3 Madagascar¬ movies were popular enough for a long-running television series and should have stuck with the 25-minute episode format. In this exhausting film, we meet Dr. Octavius Brine [John Malkovic], the star of the water pavilion at The New York Zoo until the penguins took his place. Now this crazy octopus wants to destroy the world and try Skipper [Tom McGrath], Kowalski [Chris Miller], Private [Christopher Knights] and Rico [Conrad Vernon] with the help of secret agents Classified [Benedict Cumberbatch], Eva [Annet Mahendru] and Short Fuse [Ken Jeong] from 'The North Wind' to thwart those plans. More of a series of skits than a story, so it doesn't rise above the level of the Madagascar films. The opening, with Werner Herzog as a documentary maker, is the highlight of this mediocre animation film.
