Young Guns plot

"Six reasons why the west was wild."

John Tunstall takes scum off the street to give it a second chance. He teaches them to read, write and adapt. On the other hand, they have to work for him on his ranch. Tunstall owns a large plot of land and competes with one Murphy in trading cattle. One day, Tunstall is shot by Murphy's men. Tunstall's young workmen are out for revenge and become deputy sheriffs. They just don't keep the law for long and kill Tunstall's killers. This is against the law and so they are outlawed.

I got this on DVD on my birthday, some time ago, because a neighbor thought he was doing me a favor, he knows I'm a western lover. I saw the movie almost thirty years ago and wasn't really excited about it at the time. But last weekend I watched the DVD and I have to say the film even satisfied me. Not that it is a master western, but an entertaining film. The only thing that bothered me was the acting of Charlie Sheen, his brother did better and the music, which is why the film doesn't get a higher score from me. Also nice to have a Wayne in this production, nice supporting roles from veterans Palance, Stamp and Keith. Give that little bit extra to the film. I'm glad I have the film, although the quality of the DVD was nothing to write home about.

A genuine piece of youth sentiment. Typical 'firm guys, tough guys' 90s product that relies on its fluency, humor, mean bad guys and sympathetic good guys, over the top shooting scenes, and a very catchy Emilio Estevez. I think Dermot Mulroney is really genius as a 'plum', sleazy hillbilly. Kiefer also carries his part well, but Sheen comes across as rather stiff. The story isn't much, the soundtrack sounds rocky in the 90s, but wtf, very entertaining, not too serious western. Top point, high point, which makes me laugh every time is the drug trip the men make after a brew from LDP. Wonderfully bland.

In short, a good, fast film in my opinion.

Young Guns is a slow film with saltless acting that I don't think fits in a film like this. There could be a little more spice here. If it was supposed to be humorous, it seems to fall short there too. No, it wasn't without a doubt.
