With the arrival of the telegraph, many riders of the Pony Express become unemployed. So are John Blair (John Wayne) and his partner Larry Adams (Lane Chandler). Now a race will decide who gets a contract to deliver the government mail, Blair and his friend or Drake, the owner of the stagecoach company.

Nice western.
You wouldn't really say that the film is that old: the images look good and the sound is also decent. As I've said before with other old westerns, it's just the pure brawls that don't look too good.
I personally think this western still has a good story that is still fairly well developed (despite the short running time). John Wayne does it properly as always, without really excelling (although it seems difficult to really excel in a film like this, because his character is not really fleshed out).

Where the star packer was still entertaining and even somewhat exciting in his story, that is a lot less in this film.
The competition for the stagecoach line is not really exciting, what remains is the humor that is nice, otherwise it all remains very superficial with the fixed story line elements in it.
