What strikes me about many of the comments is that although dialogues and performances are praised, nobody emphasizes how fond Tarantino actually is about language and that this comes out much more than in his other films. As French and German are spoken (also by the non-native actors), just perfect and beautiful. Normally you hear some clumsy accents, but I think Tarantino really cast this on language skills and that's why Waltz and Fassbender are so great, I think they are real perfectionists.

And...does anyone remember how to order 3 beer with your fingers in Germany? Always count the thumb...brilliant find.

Tarantino at his very best.

I can find few negatives about this piece of cinema. Tarantino's style should suit you of course; this is not just a normal war movie, and of course you should not expect it. Wonderful creativity that bursts from the screen, incredibly well-written and long dialogues, fantastic acting, hilarious humor (Pitt and his associates who speak Italian!), expertly constructed tension, beautiful cinematography and a typical Tarantino rewrite of history (which of course over the top, but come on, that's the great charm), that's what you can expect.
The film is divided into five chapters, each telling its own story that comes together at the end. Very hard to pick my favorite here. That very long opening scene is absolutely legendary and the ending, where everything comes together in the cinema, is perfect, but I'm going to go for the chapter where Fassbender &co are in the underground bar. Wonderful dialogues and palpably built up tension, a gem of a scene.
All the actors do very well; Pitt as Aldo Rain is generally hilarious, but the film's starring performance is Christopher Waltz as the hideous Colonel Hans Landa. Enough has probably been said about his role and acting, but I don't think it can be emphasized enough how good he was; an acting performance for the ages.

Tarantino does what he does best and more. Everything is right here, from the images to the characters to the actors to the music to the typical Quentin dialogues.

5* and top 10 listing.
