An unlikely story with a few unexpected plot twists. That keeps it pretty exciting, even the more than two hour long version of the DVD is easy to sit out. But there is a television sauce on the whole. The sync is sometimes just not right, that sort of thing.

Daniel Craig usually annoys me as James Bond, but he's doing a pretty good job here. Better than the other actors in any case - with the sad low point being Konstantin Lavronenko who pretends to be a circus bear.

Incidentally, I didn't notice the Russian acceptances that Insignificance mentions - I thought it was positive that the Russians actually speak Russian for a good part. Except to Craig, there they speak with a rather heavy accent. But that's understandable. What's a bit strange is that the professor who plays Craig can't easily make himself understood in Russian. Not really believable. Small flaw in the plot. A pity.

Icy as the Russian landscape, this film that starts rather confused, then ripples along to only bring some tension towards the end, although it all seems a bit far-fetched and not so believable and the depth of the characters remains rather superficial. Got the impression Craig didn't quite believe it himself.

Except for a few good scenes, but rather mediocre.

Brought from the cycle for fun, especially because the synopsis didn't seem crazy. By the way of Robert Harris, who wrote a really fascinating book with Fatherland, rewarded with a film with Rutger Hauer in the lead role. A film that would like to add to my collection, but I don't think it will be easy. Although Archangel as a whole was disappointing, the story does have enough support that I would like to try the book again.

And that's how the series begins. A little retrospective, the introduction to Kelso and a web of questions and mystery that slowly unfolds. The initial phase is certainly interesting, but unfortunately the whole cannot sustain this. The landscapes and a possible CGI background as in the case where Zinaida the duo pass a control shed look good. In any case, the desperate and at times frightened atmosphere around all the invisible mechanisms within Mother Russia are quite striking. So is the denouement with the whole conspiracy that one is trying to achieve.

However, Archangel has a few false notes that are quite difficult to interpret. Because except for the opening and the end, the series has a lot of trouble to keep you interested in the middle hour. And where exactly does that come from…? However, it is clear that character RJ is insufferable and Gabriel Macht is perhaps the least performing of the actors' guild.

Archangel is pretty decent, and it's not that bad, but for the most part it just isn't all in one way or another. Perhaps the series will succeed as a history lesson about the greatest dictator ever, although sex games, speaking of creeps, according to more Beria was his hobby. Leadership and power rarely seem to attract normal people.
